Back from a great Weekend

Hi all . . . I am not long back from a fantastic weekend away with Scrap2Relax. We got to scrap, make cards, eat, chat, and take away some great ideas.

One of the things we did on the weekend was run a couple of sketch challenges – one Scrapbook and one Card.

Here is the sketch . . .

Here is my card (the Design Team all did a sample/example):

As part of the Design Team for Scrap2Relax, I taught a ‘Make & Take’ Workshop using my new favourite thing . . . Tim Holtz Distress Inks. We made a couple of tags using the inks in different ways, then the ladies (and I!!) continued to play with them . . . some of us for most of the weekend!

Here is what I did for the weekend . . .

Distressing over a clear embossing powder . . .

Playing with Perfect Pearls, over the top of distress inks . . .

And my new favourite . . . COLOURING (Painting) with the Distress Inks. Oh MY!! I spent most of my weekend doing this once I started. I LOVE the watercolour effects, and I feel like an artist with a paint brush in my hand

There are lots of these examples to show you, as I had trouble choosing my favourites!!

And, what a cute stamp! This is a High Hopes Rubber Stamp . . . It is called “Danni Dress-up”.

I’ve had this Magnolia stamp for ages, but this weekend was the first time I inked it up.

She is called “Tilda in a Hurry” from the 2010 Bon Voyage Collection.

This is “Edwin with Butterfly” from the 2011 Butterfly Dreams Collection. He is sitting on the bench seat or wooden bench (not sure where they come from!).

Can’t wait to get to paint again . . . fun, fun, fun

The other thing I did was play with some ‘Opal Embossing Enamels” that I bought YEARS ago and had never used . . . I think I’ll play again! I made some chipboard into enamelled tiles, and turned them into a card.

As I said, we had a great weekend. I am looking forward to our next one in September.

It’s about time!!! . . .

Hi there, I am sorry that it has been so long. It is not that I have not been playing . . . I have just been really slack in sharing what I have been doing.

I have so many new toys that I have been trying out and wanting to share with you, but I seem to get lazy when it comes to taking photos and blogging. I am hoping that this will all change. I am planning on setting aside time, at LEAST once per week to share what I am creating with you all.

So here are just TWO of my favourite things . . . at the moment!!
I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I have only just discovered them, and am obsessessed (don’t worry, I have not given up on my Copics . . . I just have to make room for another obsession!!).
There are so many things that you can do with them. Here is just a sample . . .

Talking about the Scrap2Relax Retreat, I was thinking about what I would mostly be playing with . . . I am thinking Card Making – mostly with my Tim Holtz Distress Inks and my Copic Markers.

So, I was looking around the internet and found a sketch site that I used to look at Called Mojo Monday. I decided to download some of their sketches, to use on the weekend, and ended up making them into a book!!

I used another toy I have, that has not had nearly enough use – My Zutter Bind-it-all. What fun it was. I created a sketch book from scratch, decorated it, and then used the scraps of paper left over to make a cute little notebook.

Maybe I’ll take my Bind-it-all away as well!!

Anyway, this is the end of my post for today, but I look forward to sharing with you regularly this year.

Wedding Cards

Hi there, sorry things have been quiet here . . . we lost our internet for a few days (felt like my arms and legs were cut off, but I digress!!).

We ended up having to buy a new router. It seems we are back online, but for some reason my computer still has some issues, but whilst I can get onto the internet, I thought I’d share some of what I have been up too :)

I was asked by a friend to make a wedding card, so I thought I’d have a go at ‘Colouring White’. I am pretty happy with how these cards turned out.

What do you think?

Copic Colours used:

Face: E50, E51, E53, R20 & White gel pen on cheeks

Dress, Shirt & Pants: W1, W3, W5

Shoes: C1, C3, C5, C7

Hair: E33, E35, E37

Flowers: YG00, YG03, R32, R35, R37

Buttermilk Spica Pen used on lace and dots around hair and flowers.

Copic Colours used:

Face: E50, E51, E53, R20 & White gel pen on cheeks

Dress & Shirt: W1, W3, W5

Pants & Shoes: C1, C3, C5, C7

Hair: E33, E35, E37

Flowers: YG00, YG03, R32, R35, R37

Silver Spica Pen used on lace and dots around hair and flowers.

At first I thought I liked the totally ‘white’ one, but now I am not so sure. They change when the cards are all finished.

If you live locally, you can also purchase the cards from Jigsaw Hair Studio in Drouin. There should be supplies of my cards there starting early next week.

Mad for Markers Design Team Call

Mad for Markers (a great place to get Copic Markers online) is having a Design Team Call.

I have only recently discovered Copic Markers, but I LOVE them, and I’d love to get to play with the Mad for Markers team.

Card Patterns Sketch 81

I have decided to play along . . .

I just love these Magnolia stamps. This one is two stamps, and I used the masking technique to make my Tilda look like she is sitting on the bench . . . cool hey!
I am also really enjoying using the feathering technique to blend two different colours. I have done this again on her dress. Here is a close up . . .

What a great weekend

Hi all, I have just returned from a great weekend away with the ladies and customers from Scrap2Relax. Thanks Karen, for organising such a great weekend, you are amazing.
I had so much fun playing with my copic markers and magnolia stamps, I thought I’d share some of my favourites here with you.

I love this Chinese Tilda stamp . . . doesn’t she look cute, all coloured in pink and greens.

This Berry Tilda has been coloured with greens & blues, using the ‘feathering’ technique that I learnt at the Copic Training I went to last month.
It is not an easy technique, but I really love the effect that you get when it is done well.
Paper from the Hippy Girl, Kaisercraft range.

Shopping Tilda, coloured in purples, along with some other cards I made with the left over papers. Papers from the BoBunny Range.

This card has been made with the Spellbinders Flower dies.
The flower dies were inked with Brilliance in before they were cut and embossed.
The leaf dies were inked before and after they were cut and embossed.
The background paper was embossed with the cuttlebug dots folder.

I am LOVING these Copic Markers . . . I can not stop colouring in!
I am also spending lots of time searching the internet for ‘digital stamps’ . . . I didn’t even know that these existed until yesterday :)

I LOVE Copic Markers!

So, I was going to post some of the scrapbook pages I have done in the last week or so, but I have something sooooo much more exciting to share with you :)
I have just started playing with the Copic Markers . . . and lets me just say . . . I LOVE them!!
I started out with 6 markers on Saturday . . . went back to Scrap2Relax yesterday and bought 14 more.
I coloured most of last night, read LOTS of stuff on the internet, and I HAVE to drop back into Scrap2Relax this afternoon for some MORE!!
They are so easy to use, they colour beautifully, and even I (who has no artistic/drawing skill) can blend the colours and get some shading look in my pictures. (Now I need more stamps that I can colour!).

Wow! Not only have I done some scrapbooking in the past week or so, I have done traditional paper scrapping to boot!!
It has taken me a few days to take the photos and upload them here . . . but here they are :)

I completed these at a fabulously fun scrapping night I had a week ago with the Design Team from Scrap to Relax, in Drouin.

I have done some of the layouts for you to look at for this workshop already, and I know the other girls are working on theirs.

What have I been up to??

I am sorry it has taken so long to update my blog, but between work, I have been busy playing . . . so I do have some things to share :)
Firstly, I made this for a girlfriend who is getting married next year . . . I thought she needed something to plan her wedding in :)

Secondly, I made this for my scrapbook desk . . . in my favourite colours . . . pink of course. I LOVE this new paper from the BoBunny Range - it is called Sophia. My new favourite :)

Finally, these were made for some of my special friends :)
The A’s . . . are for Amy . . . Matt’s girlfriend. I gave them to her tonight. I think she liked them!

I wonder who these C’s are for???? I guess someone will just have to wait until it arrives in their mailbox, won’t they!!

Welcome . . .

Well, we have just finished another great card class this afternoon, and this evening at Scrap2Relax.
Inbetween classes, I prepared a workshop sample for one of our June Workshops.
This has been requested by one of our customers . . . something to hang up outside our doors at home.
You can do yours in whatever colour you like, and bling it up however you like too :) Want to see mine???

Here are a few close ups . . .
The flower – it has been painted, and then ‘kindyglitzed’.

The ‘welcome’ letters have been painted, ‘glimmermisted’ and then covered with ‘dimensional magic’.

The top and edges have been decorated with a bit of ‘bling’ . . . a girl can’t have too much bling!!

The date for the classes have not been finalised, but it will be in June sometime. Keep your eye out on the Scrap2Relax website, or become a fan of Scrap2Relax on Facebook!

A Birthday Card

We went to my nephew’s first birthday today, so of course I couldn’t use a store bought card.
As usual, I was running behind the 8 ball!! I bought the bits and pieces I needed on Friday night . . . I made the card half an hour before we needed to leave this morning!!
Here it is . . .
I used the the new mini chipboard shapes/words that Karen has at Scrap2Relax. Inked them with versamagic ink and then . . . yes . . . I used glimmermist again!! Pearl on the words and gold on the cake. Then a bit of gold on the candle flame.

Baby Card

I sat down tonight to tidy up my desk and do some scrapping. As I tidied, I ended up making a card. Sometimes my most favourite cards are the ones I make from the Scraps that are lying around!!
This card has been made from the Kaiser Devonshire Collection . . . the same papers used for the Photo Display (yep, tidying up from then!!).
I need to send a present and card to some friends who have jsut had a baby girl . . . so I have decided to make this a ‘non-traditional’ baby girl card. What do you think?

Card Class for February at Scrap2Relax

I LOVE the Spellbinders dies, and what you can do with them.
My card class at Scrap2Relax in February not only has some different card designs (which I found on Splitcoast Stampers - a great resource for card makers), but I am using the spellbinders butterfly dies to decorate it - using the embossing ability of the dies, and different ways of inking them.
